7- Electric cars are expensive!! I wish if one major company such as tesla would come up with a really affordable and cool looking electronic car so you save the planet while looking cool driving at the same time! I think this is a problem because they target customer with enough money in their bank accounts to actually start thinking about the planet!!
So my problem was basically that most of the cool electric cars these days are expensive and they are associated with the rich lifestyle more than actually saving the planet. A nice Tesla car cost around 90 grand and thats is not cheap for the normal middle class people. The cheap electric cars like Chevrolet and Ford are really ugly and I am sure a lot of people do not buy them for that reasons.
I know that I don't have enough resources to start manufacturing electric cars but maybe we can come up with company that works along with tesla or other car companies to develop new designs that cost less and looks better. To add on, we can also act as a communication bridge between the customer (especially young people) and these car companies, We can collect feedback and reviews about models and reviews so these manufacturing companies can know what people want exactly and try to fulfil their requests.
Another idea was starting a funding campaign and start manufacturing an affordable electric scooters and sell them around big campuses like UF. All the electric scooters these days are pricey and they are not within the budget of a college students .

Hey George, I'm glad you addressed the financial component to the electric car movement. While I agree there is a difference in quality and luxury between Tesla and other brands, I would say that there might be more factors at work than just looks when it comes to the lack of sales of electric cars from brands like Chevrolet or Nissan. Overall, I love the idea because I think there is a huge gap in communication and socioeconomic access when it comes to promoting the use of electric cars. I love the idea of creating a system for cheap electric scooters on campus.
ReplyDeleteGeorge, I totally agree with you. Recently, I've been searching for a newer car with excellent fuel economy. During my search I was intrigued by the hybrid and electric car types. However, in my search I realized cars with that type of specification were unreasonably priced. I figure if automakers main point is to better the environment with hybrid and electric cars, why not make it more affordable? If electric and hybrid cars were more affordable more people would buy, thus bettering the environment. I totally agree with your opportunity, I think you are on to something.
